Tim Rossell

This month we asked Tim, our Youth and Families Worker, to write a piece explaining his plans for the upcoming groups and activities that are going to be starting soon:
Since joining the project just over two months ago, it is exciting to be able to tell you all about both the work that we have already started with young people and families, and about our new and upcoming projects that are just beginning to take shape.
Through the summer months, Lauren and I have had the pleasure of running a children’s club as part of the café at Bainbridge hall on Wednesday mornings. We’ve made crafts, watched some funny films and played with lots of Lego, all whilst meeting with both the children and their parents. Plans are already in motion as to how this group can grow and improve ready for Summer 2017.
I have also been in communication with Mr. Inglis, the Headteacher from the Bolsover School about ways we can work together, starting with us being welcomed in to run a lunchtime group where we will be playing a lot of Uno and hopefully having some good conversations. It is hoped that through this group, we will be able to grow our work in our local high school, creating more opportunities for Freedom to be involved in our immediate surroundings.
Coming soon there is also going to be a new youth group, Tribe, running from Bolsover Methodist Church aimed at all young people aged 11-16, which will include sports, gaming, craft and hot chocolate. Further announcements regarding this group will be coming soon, so watch this space…
On the 1st of October, we are also running a coach trip to York, where we will be visiting the Railway Museum, shopping at the Shambles and going on a Spy Mission. The trip is now fully booked up and we are looking forward to a fantastic day out.
Finally, I’d like to thank you all from Lauren and myself for inviting us into the organisation so gracefully, and if you would like to stay up to date with everything mentioned then go and ‘like’ the Freedom Community Project page on Facebook.
