This year marks the 8th annual Community Week here at the Freedom Community Project. From now up until the beginning of August, the office will be busy getting everything ordered, painted and organised ready for kick off on Monday the 1st. As part of our preparations we wanted to give you a few ideas of how you can get involved and get stuck into this years event. Enjoy!

  1. Book early! As usual, all the activities during Community Week book up super quick. If you’re interested in attending an event (or booking your children in to the Children’s and Toddler Groups) make sure you phone up or book on-line as soon as possible. For more information or to book on-line, please visit https://fcgroup.org.uk/week.
  2. Volunteer for day events. Without the support of our loyal volunteers we wouldn’t be able to put on this amazing range of activities. We are always looking for volunteers to help out over every area during Community Week, whether it be our popular free café, creative Children’s and Toddler Group or our free Fun Day that’s full of family activities! If this is something you’re interested in, please call the office on 01246 241 457.
  3. Bake. Our free café operates over 5 days during Community Week and as it is so popular, we are always looking for bakers to help supply the cake! If you (or someone you know) is a brilliant baker, why not get involved by baking us some goods?
  4. Volunteer for evening events. This year, as well as our usual evening events (like the Ladies Night or Men’s Walk) we’re also adding in a Family Games and Quiz Night! If you are unable to volunteer during the day but would still love to get involved, why not inquire about volunteering during one of our evening events?
  5. Bring the family. Our ever popular Fun Day on Hornscroft Park is the perfect place to bring the family for a fun, free and fantastic day. Here you’ll find free food, games, face painting, bouncy castles and even a magician!
  6. Donate. Of course, putting on such a big event each year costs the Freedom Community Project money. If you’d like to either sponsor us for part of the event or give a donation, we would love to hear from you.
  7. Pray for us. There are so many things you can pray for during Community Week. Some ideas are for the weather, good health, great attendance and that everybody has a good time.
  8. Tell your friends (and bring them along!) The whole reason we put on the Community Week each year is to get as many members of the community together and create a special, free week that everyone can enjoy. By bringing your friends and family to one of our activities, you’re not only helping to build community spirit, but you’re having fun, too!
  9. Help us set up the Fun Day. At 6am on the Saturday of Community Week, our hard working volunteers are up and ready to set up the Fun Day. This involves putting giant marquees together, organising the layout, preparing the café and ensuring everything is ready to go by 11.30am. If you can spare an hour or two to help us out please contact the office on 01246 241 457. Who knows, you might even get a free breakfast for your help!
  10. Eat cake & drink coffee! The most important thing is for you to simply enjoy the week and everything that comes with it. So turn up, don’t forget to bring your friends and family and most of all, make sure you have a fantastic time!
